Description of Duties:

Key Responsibilities




  • Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping in compliance with CRA requirements



  • Manage year-end financial close, including reconciliations and accruals



  • Prepare financial statements and reports for the Board and funders



  • Monitor budgets, track restricted funds, and analyze variances



  • Support grant and funder financial reporting and compliance



  • Ensure strong internal controls, approvals, and financial policies



  • Assist with CRA filings and audit or review preparation



  • Support the Treasurer and leadership team with financial planning and reporting


   
Skills Required:

Education and Experience:




  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA candidate preferred, with knowledge of nonprofit and charity financial management.



  • 1-5 years of financial management, accounting, or bookkeeping experience, preferably within the nonprofit or charitable sector.



  • Experience in budget preparation, financial reporting, and understanding regulatory compliance requirements for charities.



  • Proficiency with accounting software (such as QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.



  • Experience working with diverse teams and maintaining confidentiality.



Skills Required:


Strong understanding of financial statements, budgets, and reports



  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing financial documents

  • Analytical thinking and ability to interpret data and advise on financial decisions

  • Integrity and accountability and commitment to transparency and ethical standards

  • Communication and clear presentation of financial information to non-financial board members

  • Problem-solving and able to identify and address financial risks or challenges

  • Organizational skills and timely follow-up on financial deadlines and reports

  • Teamwork and works well with board, staff, and external accountants or auditors


  • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting skills



  • Knowledge of CRA regulations and nonprofit financial compliance



  • Experience managing grant-funded and restricted funds



  • Proficiency with accounting software and Excel



  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy



  • Ability to prepare clear financial reports for boards and funders



  • Good organizational and time-management skills
