Description of Duties:

The Nominating Committee of the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba (MDAM) is currently accepting applications to fill upcoming vacancies on its Board of Directors. Successful candidates will be nominated for appointment and welcomed during the Board Retreat in August 2026.. About MDAM


The Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba is a peer-driven, self-help organization dedicated to empowering individuals affected by mood disorders through peer support, education, and advocacy. Our mission is to increase public awareness and understanding of mood and co-occurring disorders while helping people build and maintain mental wellness.


Board Term and Location



  • Term: Up to three (3) years, with eligibility for renewal.

  • Location: Meetings are primarily held virtually, with occasional in-person meetings in downtown Winnipeg, when possible.

We seek Board members with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:



  • Financial management (CPA or equivalent designation preferred)

  • Legal expertise

  • Lived or caregiver experience related to mood disorders

  • Indigenous knowledge and issues

  • Board governance

  • Mental health promotion, peer support, and recovery-oriented approaches

  • Human resources

  • Risk management

  • Fundraising and development

  • Public relations and communications

  • Information technology

  • Community or clinical mental healthcare systems

Time Commitment



  • Monthly Board meetings (approximately 1-3 hours in length).

  • Participation on Board committees is expected.

  • Approximately 8 to 10 Board meetings and several committee meetings per year.

  • Attendance at MDAM events and fundraisers is highly encouraged.
