Description of Duties:


As a community engagement leadership volunteer, you will be part of our committees of 10 to 15 volunteers who will work over the months to help us organize our fundraising events. Depending on the needs in your community, available roles could include committee lead, logistics, community outreach, volunteer lead, and social media.


The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run.


This year's event will be taking place on Sunday, October 5, 2025.


As the volunteer Community Outreach Lead, you will be responsible for:


• Creating a community and corporate outreach strategy, in collaboration with the Corporate Outreach Lead.


• Connecting with your community (community groups, friends and family, local outreach booths) and invite them to get registered with the CIBC Run for the Cure.


• Identifying local events happening in your community where you can represent CCS and promote the CIBC Run for the Cure.


If your site does not have a Sponsorship Lead you will also be responsible for:


• Securing food and beverage for event through Gift in Kind sponsorships.


• Soliciting and securing local gift-in-kind and cash sponsorships.

• A strong sense of self-motivation and time management.


Must be 18+ to apply and complete the Canadian Cancer Society code of conduct

It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause.

• This is a 6 month commitment (May through October)


• Attend local committee meetings (generally bi-weekly to monthly)


• Independent role work/responsibilities (approx. 2-4 hours per month)
