Volunteer Team Members - Driver or Headquarters roles available

Working in teams of three (designated driver, navigator, escort driver), taking clients with their cars home safely during the festive holiday season. Our campaign starts in November through to New Year's Eve (our busiest night), but please apply early as we process your application, and it can take 10-15 days to process (includes a free police check).

Our volunteer Designated Drivers are the core of the service, driving clients and their vehicles from pickup point to their final destination. Must have a reasonably clean driving record and a driving licence, and the ability to drive "stick" / standard is an asset, but not required.

Our volunteer Navigators assist the designated driver to coordinate the ride, offering directions using Apple Maps / Google Maps / Waze / Local Knowledge to ensure the smooth operation of a ride, working as part of the team. Some technology use is required, including use of a donation payment terminal and smart phone.

Our escort driver role is always in demand. Escort drivers volunteer themselves and their vehicles to ferry the team around the city from task to task, and escort the ride as a key role in the team. Must be able to follow the client car at all times, working late into the night. Fuel reimbursement is provided and you must be able to be flexible with your assigned team mates for the night.

HEADQUARTERS ROLES

Our headquarters volunteers in Winnipeg answer client calls in our seasonal call centre or help with in-house hospitality for our volunteers.

You will work late into the evening/night as part of this role, working in teams of 3. Give your friends a call, ask your work colleagues to join you for a fun night of volunteering.

We promise to make it a fun experience, and we want you to come back again and again to help your community get people home safely and responsibly.

Two of the three members of each team must have a valid, FULL STATUS driver's license. Knowledge of the city is an asset. It's a great, safe, fun social opportunity. Our volunteers are lovely people who care about our community's safety.

Must apply well in advance of your volunteer night(s) on our website to allow for police clearance (7-10 days ahead). Campaign night dates are posted on our website in "Our Service" section.

This program is a nonjudgmental ride for responsible drivers who may be fatigued after a party, or intoxicated and need a safe service to get their car home with the driver and their friends.

It is part of a 40+ year-old, nationally known and operated program established in 1984 and has been operating in Manitoba since 1995.

Our volunteers are active Friday and Saturday nights from 28 November 2026 until New Year's Eve (including Wednesday of New Year, which is our busiest night!).

We provide team radio connectivity for contact with Headquarters. Its fun, safe, and in our 31st year in Winnipeg! Come celebrate with us and help get people home safely.

Outside opportunities as designated drivers (driving client cars to their destination), navigators (helping the team around the city in client's car), and escort drivers (driving their vehicle, assisting your team get around the city and following our client's car. Reimbursement of gas provided to escort driver.)

Call takers in our headquarters handling and logging calls with clients, call dispatcher assigning calls, night coordinator, food and hospitality (serving food to volunteers safely and keeping the lite bites buffet and coffee pots well-stocked)
