Organizational Description: Aurora Family Therapy Centre, Inc. (AFTC) is a non-profit, charitable organization that offers mental health and family therapy services to individuals and families, and delivers a range of programs to newcomers to Canada in collaboration with community-based partners and organizations. AFTC is also the primary practicum site for graduate students in the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) program at the University of Winnipeg. As an organization, we are committed to providing systemic therapy to strengthen family relationships, individuals, and communities through cross-cultural and trauma-informed care.

Description of Duties:

Aurora Family Therapy Centre is looking for new board members to serve on the Board of Directors. The Board Members provide strategic leadership and direction to the organization.

The AFTC Board of Directors governs using a Policy Governance® model. The board meets a minimum of four times a year (excluding July, August and December), in addition to an Annual General Meeting on the last Monday of September of every year. Board members are expected to commit to attending all meetings over the course of a minimum of 3-year terms.


Board meetings take place in the evening on the last Monday of the month when meetings are scheduled.
