Description of Duties:

Description of Duties



  • Facilitate hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning activities for children and youth in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment

  • Assist with planning and delivering interactive workshops, experiments, creative projects, and educational activities

  • Support participants in developing problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills

  • Encourage active participation, curiosity, and positive learning experiences during program sessions

  • Prepare and organize learning materials, supplies, and activity spaces before and after sessions

  • Supervise participants during activities, ensuring safety, respect, and positive behavior

  • Support educational and recreational activities during after-school, weekend, or community programs

  • Assist with participant registration, attendance tracking, and program documentation

  • Collaborate with program staff, volunteers, and community partners to support successful program delivery

  • Help promote culturally inclusive and accessible learning opportunities for diverse communities

  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, outreach activities, and special events as required

  • Maintain professionalism and represent HSDE Canada positively within the community

   
Skills Required:

  • Interest in education, STEAM learning, youth engagement, or community programs

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively with children, youth, and diverse communities

  • Creativity, patience, and enthusiasm for interactive learning activities

  • Teamwork and collaboration skills

  • Basic organizational and time-management abilities

  • Ability to lead small group activities in a respectful and supportive manner

  • Reliability, professionalism, and willingness to learn

  • Experience in tutoring, mentoring, youth programs, or educational activities is an asset

  • Bilingualism (English/French or other community languages) is considered an asset

  • Volunteer position with flexible scheduling based on program activities and participant needs

  • Expected commitment of approximately 4-10 hours per week depending on availability and assigned sessions

  • Availability for after-school hours, evenings, weekends, or special community events may be required

  • Participation in orientation, training sessions, planning meetings, and STEAM activities as scheduled

  • Volunteers are encouraged to maintain consistent attendance and active engagement to support positive learning experiences for participants at HSDE Canada
