Organizational Description: | The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg ("The Home") has been part of Manitoba's historical tapestry for over 116 years (and counting) and we are most proud of and respected for our contributions made in the field of long-term care. We are a fully accredited personal care "home" to 84 Residents dedicated to providing holistic care to each which contributes to their physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. We provide: -24-hour nursing and personal care with two visiting physicians -Social work services -Financial services -Spiritual care (through the auspices of affiliated community churches/church leaders and volunteers) -Ancillary health care including Foot Care and Dental Care -Meals/snacks (all prepared/cooked onsite) -Laundry services -Special events for holiday and seasonal celebrations -Therapeutic Recreational programs (including, at present, two-day a week music therapy programming) -Hairdressing services -Continual staff training and development -Volunteer recruitment and involvement -Quarterly Newsletter Our Mission: "Proud to be the first care home in Manitoba, The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg is an innovative, caring, and compassionate community where generations meet." Description of Duties: | The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg (TCHW), a non-profit, fully accredited personal care home in South Winnipeg, is seeking committed, visionary individuals who are interested in reimagining long-term care for Manitoba's older adults, as well as being part of a dedicated group working to achieve lofty goals of building new and/or repurposing old infrastructures to better serve the needs of our aging population. |
Skills Required: | Ideal candidates will possess the following accountabilities: |
Skills Gained/Related Careers: | Volunteer Board Members will gain experience in governance and policy development, fundraising, building of community and political relationships, advocacy, and the implementation of an inclusive, welcoming environment regardless of their role in the TCHW organization. |

Time Commitment: | Daytime , Evening , Weekend Advance notice is provided of all TCHW Board meetings and related engagements/events. |
