Hardball Convenor - Board Position

Valley Gardens Community Centre is located in East Kildonan.

As a convener, duties will include:

- Attend monthly board meetings, annual general meeting, and other meetings as directed by the board
- Once registration is over, go through spreadsheet (provided by Red River Baseball) to pre-organize teams
- Attend convenor meeting in April when teams are formed
- Find coaches and make sure they are all certified
- Go through equipment before season starts and organize them for each team
- Order new equipment and hats as needed
- Organize jerseys for players
- Once teams are formed, must email rosters to coaches
- Work closely with the softball convenor to set up practice/game schedule
- Organize pitching machine with all teams
- See if any repairs to diamonds are needed and communicate the needs to the VGCC general manager
- Ensure proper maintenance of diamonds (ex. regular raking)
- Attend games and cheer on the teams!

- Strong communication and cooperation skills
- Strong organization skills
- Computer experience
- All experience is appreciated, but we will also train and support as needed.

Skills gained include: learning to collaborate within a group dynamic, holding a board of directors seat, developing leadership skills, and experience in team management and team cooperation.

Time commitment varies. Some daytime correspondence calls may be made/taken. Emails can be handled evenings and weekends. Will be required to attend monthly board meetings and are expected to attend club initiated events.
