Long-time Canadian or established Immigrant
Fluent in English with minimum CLB of 8 or equivalent
Adult EAL/ESL teaching experience or certification (e.g. Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, CTESL) is an asset.
Other teaching or tutoring experience is an asset
Ability to work with individuals from diverse ethno-cultural backgrounds
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong time management and organization skills
Patience
For online classes - experience using Zoom

1.5 hours per week
Minimum three-month commitment required
One meeting per week minimum
Shifts available on weekdays, evenings and Saturdays
Online classes take place via Zoom
In-person classes take place at the Immigrant Centre or off-site at a public location: e.g. library or coffee shop. Volunteers who want to meet with their partner off-site must provide a Police Record Certificate.
