Volunteer Opportunity Details
Volunteer Opportunity ID: 3182
Description of Duties:

Monday Night is for Women, Queer, and Trans at the Bike Dump. Our aim is to create a safer space for women, queer, and trans folks who may feel uncomfortable during regular Bike Dump times. Monday Nights are meant to encourage leadership amongst folks who aren't always taking on such roles. People can be "hands on" in ways they can find satisfying.

The Bike Dump is meant to act as an anti-oppressive space so everyone feels welcome. An anti-oppressive space means a space where people make efforts to be aware of, avoid, and challenge oppressive behaviours such as racism, sexism, ageism, classism, homophobia, and transphobia.

A couple of years ago Monday night was one of our strongest nights, but as many of our volunteers have moved away, primarily for school, we have been unable to open consistently as of late. Please consider getting involved if you are able to ensure that this important space continues to exist for all those who benefit from access to it.

If you are interested, and are a woman or queer identifying person, please email us at winnipegbikedump@gmail.com We are very desirous of finding enough volunteers to reopen this night, as it is currently on hiatus.
