Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Want to give back to your community? A & O: Support Services for Older Adults requires Connect Program a 55+ male volunteer to provide social companionship to an older adult living in the Winnipeg community over the telephone. A & O currently requires volunteers who enjoy conversation and have strong conversational and interpersonal skills. If you can commit a minimum of one hour a week in the morning, afternoon, or evening, you can make a difference for an older adult living in our community. Skills Required: -Interest in military history and/or previous military experience
-Strong conversational and interpersonal skills required.
-Ability to work independently
-Completed Criminal Record Search and Adult Abuse Registry check will be required of successful applicants, to be discussed

-Opportunity to attend training session on a variety of topics related to aging

Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
Volunteers are free to complete phone visits during mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends depending on the schedules of both the volunteer and the older adult.
