Organizational Description: The Bike dump is a volunteer-run community bicycle education space.

We offer:
-Tools and space to fix your bike
-A stock of recycled bike frames and parts from which to build yourself a bike
-Volunteers to help guide you through repairs, or with a bike-building project
-Refurbished, recycled bicycles for sale on a sliding scale
-Bicycle repair workshops

We strive:
-To make cycling - and bicycle repair knowledge - accessible to everyone

-To offer creative alternatives to auto dependency and its consequences

Description of Duties:

Help community members learn how to fix their own bicycle! :)

Skills Required:

Patience, compassion, basic bicycle mechanic skills, interpersonal skills and an ability to work with people of many varied backgrounds.

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

More advanced mechanical knowledge can be gained from fellow volunteer mechanics along with valuable instructing experience. All volunteers are invited to join in monthly meetings (pizza parties) and other volunteer appreciation activities.

Volunteers are encouraged to attend with some sort of regularity, but there is no need to attend every shift.


Sunday 1-4pm (open holidays)
Monday 6-9pm Women + Queer identifying only (closed on holidays/long weekends) This shift is currently closed, pending a new group of women and queer identifying volunteers able to manage the program
Tuesday 6-9pm
Located at 631 Main Street, Side/back Entrance.


The application process consists of you showing up to one of our open shifts and announcing to the volunteers on that shift that you would like to begin volunteering. Then you will learn quickly whether this opportunity is for you. We are a welcoming safe(r) space and love to include new people.
