Community Youth Innovators Program

The Volunteer Manitoba Community Youth Innovators Program is designed for youth in Manitoba between the ages of 18-29 who are passionate about serving their communities. This program is made possible in partnership with RBC Future Launch, Canada Life, and the Winnipeg Foundation.

Through the program, youth groups created their own projects to serve a cause or community need that they cared about. Six groups were selected to receive a maximum of $5000 each for their chosen project, and a unique opportunity for experiential learning. The program ran from May to August, 2022. Four groups were from Winnipeg, one from Brandon, and one from Opaskwayak Cree Nation. Each group underwent training from May 6 and 7, to build on their skills and grow their network before officially kick starting their projects in the summer of 2022.

By engaging young people through opportunities like the Community Youth Innovators Program, we can keep Manitoba's voluntary sector strong and encourage them to build healthy and resilient communities.

About the Program

The Community Youth Innovators Program is designed to engage diverse and passionate groups of youth from around Manitoba, and support their efforts to make a difference in their communities.

The program consists of three phases:

  • Learn! The program creates opportunities to learn new skills in leadership, volunteer management, program planning, and budgeting.
  • Create your own Project! Volunteer Manitoba, along with organization mentors, provides support and guidance as the groups implement their community projects.
  • Reflect! Evaluation tools help groups reflect and review their projects to maximize efficiency and measure effectiveness.
