Organizational Description: Teen Talk is a youth health education service of Klinic Community Health Centre. We give accurate, non-judgmental information about sexual health and mental health to help people make healthier choices for themselves. We offer a unique volunteer Opportunity through our Peer Support Program. Peer Support is for anyone ages 14-18 interested in helping others and learning more about important topics like sex, relationships, mental health and more.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Peer Education at Teen talk is an exciting opportunity for anyone (ages 14-18) interested in helping others and learning more about important topics like sexual health and mental health. You decide how you want to use your training, we'll help you get started! We have meet-ups throughout the year where peer educators can learn more and do fun things together.

Some other things Peer Educators do:

Help people at school; give out condoms; create 'zines; run resource lockers at school; run info tables; help out at community events; answer health and relationship questions;
attend or present at conferences; create art, stories, projects, videos for our website and more!

Taking our Peer Education training is the first step!

We offer a free training manual to keep, snacks at every session, bus tokens and a training certificate.

Skills Required: Must be age 14-18 at the time you take the training. Anyone that age is welcome! No special skills required. You just have to be available, interested and willing to participate. (The training is offered in English only and includes some reading and writing tasks. We would like to make it work for you, so please contact us before registering if there is something we can do to help!)
Skills Gained/Related Careers: The topics included in the training are: Sexuality, Sexual health, Communication, Relationships, Body Image, Substance Use, Appreciating Diversity/Anti-oppression, Mental Health, as well as support and referral skills!
Age: 17 and under
Time Commitment: Evening
The next training is Tuesday Evenings 6-9 pm, October 1- December 10, 20119. The training is held at Sexuality Education Resource Centre,226 Osborne St. N. Suite 200 on the second floor. We hold multiple trainings each year, sign up anytime!
