Organizational Description: The Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre is a home - a not-for-profit, government-funded Jewish-based personal care home in south Winnipeg that houses 200 Residents. People who can no longer manage independently come to live here for their remaining years in dignity and with professional care, in a robust and friendly social environment. For almost 110 years, the Centre has provided care to its Residents in accordance with the Jewish values of Derech eretz - Respect for all people; Kavod - Honour due each person; Chesed - Caring; Emunah - Trust; and Kol Yisrael Areivim Zeh La-Zeh - Communal Responsibility; the Centre also welcomes seniors of various faiths and cultures. In 2000 and 2008, the Simkin Centre underwent major capital projects which allowed it to create a brand-new state-of-the-art campus.

In addition to providing long-term care services, the Centre also offers a community-based funded program of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) - our Adult Day Program. It offers social and recreational opportunities to Home Care clients within the WRHA maximizing their independence in the community and providing relief to caregivers.

Description of Duties:

The Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre is seeking dedicated volunteers to join the planning committee for the upcoming Simkin Stroll on Thursday, June 12, 2025.


This event is a fundraiser for Recreation Programming and Services that encourages the healthy aging of our Residents.


If you're passionate about making a difference, helping to organize events and fundraising, we would love to have you part of the team. Volunteers will assist in shaping the event, coordinating activities, reaching out to donors/sponsors and ensuring its success.
