Organizational Description: Manitoba Horse Council (MHC) is the not-for-profit organization representing clubs and individual members involved in equine activity in Manitoba. MHC provides support, leadership and resources to develop all phases of equestrian sports and to improve and develop equestrian athletes in Manitoba. MHC works to promote the interests of Manitoba's equestrian enthusiasts and clubs.

Description of Duties:

MHC is currently seeking someone to join our volunteer Board of Directors as Vice President, Finance. You will be responsible for playing a key role in the oversight of MHC's financial affairs including monitoring and reporting on the organization's financial performance and helping the board to understand financial matters. Key duties include:



  • Chair the Finance Committee (2-3 meetings/year)

  • With the Finance Committee & Executive Director review on an annual basis:

    • Operating budget

    • MHC's financial policy and procedures

    • The financial report for Sport Manitoba Integrated Funding Framework Review

    • Year-end financials for the audit


  • Attend Board meetings and provide a regular financial report in collaboration with the Executive Director (statement of operations, balance sheet, budget to actuals)

  • Ensure accounting and financial reporting compliance

  • Provide support to the Executive Director and Bookkeeper as required

  • Hold signing authority

   
Skills Required:

Previous board experience desired


CPA or similar designation
