We empower individuals to report incidents of drink spiking, sexual harassment, and assault, enabling us to collect crucial data to identify patterns, hotspots, and potential predators. Our mission is to foster a secure and supportive community by collaborating with event organizers, venues, and local stakeholders to implement preventive measures and raise awareness. Description of Duties:


  • Governance and Leadership:



    • Participate in setting the strategic direction of Event Safe, including long-term goals, annual objectives, and performance targets.

    • Contribute to the development and approval of organizational policies, ensuring they align with the mission and values of Event Safe.

    • Provide oversight of organizational activities, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

    • Support and evaluate the Executive Director, offering guidance, feedback, and resources to help them succeed in their role.



  • Financial Oversight:



    • Review and approve the annual budget, ensuring that it aligns with the organization's goals and available resources.

    • Monitor financial performance, including income and expenditures, to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

    • Participate in fundraising efforts, including identifying potential donors, attending fundraising events, and personally contributing to the organization's financial health.



  • Advocacy and Community Engagement:



    • Act as an ambassador for Event Safe in the community, promoting its mission, values, and programs to potential partners, donors, and stakeholders.

    • Engage with community members, event organizers, and stakeholders to build strong relationships and partnerships that support the organization's goals.

    • Advocate for the organization's work in public forums, representing Event Safe's interests in local, regional, and national discussions.



  • Program and Performance Monitoring:



    • Oversee the effectiveness of programs and services, ensuring they meet the needs of the community and align with Event Safe's mission.

    • Regularly review program outcomes and impact, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.

    • Support the development of new initiatives and strategies to address emerging safety concerns in the event and entertainment industry.



  • Fundraising and Resource Development:



    • Actively participate in fundraising campaigns and events, contributing to the organization's financial sustainability.

    • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations.

    • Assist in developing fundraising strategies that align with Event Safe's mission and financial needs.



  • Board Development:



    • Assist in recruiting and mentoring new board members, ensuring the board has the skills, diversity, and expertise needed to govern effectively.

    • Participate in ongoing board education and development opportunities to enhance governance skills and knowledge.

    • Contribute to the evaluation of board performance, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.



  • Commitment and Participation:



    • Attend all board meetings, typically held quarterly, and participate in any sub-committees or task forces as required.

    • Prepare for meetings by reviewing agendas, reports, and other materials in advance.

    • Be available for consultation with the Executive Director and other board members as needed.

    • Uphold the organization's values, acting with integrity and in the best interest of Event Safe at all times.


   
Skills Required:

  • Experience in non-profit governance, fundraising, or community outreach is an asset.

  • Strong understanding of Event Safe's mission and a commitment to its values.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and provide high-level guidance.

  • Experience in financial management, legal compliance, or human resources is beneficial.
