Description of Duties:

Responsibilities:




  • Attend practice and competition events on a regular basis





  • Communicate with head coach regarding practices and competitions





  • Adhere to the plans for the head coach (weekly & yearly)





  • Supervise activities when deemed necessary by head coach





  • Attend coaching conferences and clinics as necessary to upgrade coaching skills





  • Instruction in sport skills





  • Competition at an appropriate level when certified as a coach





  • Modeling and instilling socially appropriated behavior including fair play





  • Learning the role of Head Coach via mentorship


   
Skills Required:

Requirements:




  • Must know how to Ski





  • Experience with individual with intellectual disabilities is an asset





  • Adherence to Special Olympics Manitoba Coaches Code of Conduct , Constitution & By-Laws, Principles





  • Must follow the philosophy of Special Olympics Manitoba as presented in the Mission Statement





  • Must be at least 14 years of age to be a coaching volunteer and 18 years of age to be an assistant coach

The time commitment is one to two weekly sessions for 1 to 2 ½ hours. Some weekends are required for competition.
