Description of Duties:

Summary



The Volunteer Job Search Coach provides job search services to clients in the OVRC Computer Lab. Service would include email assistance, some resume/cover letter formatting / job search assistance and profile creation.



Duties and Responsibilities of a Volunteer Job Search Coach




  1. Create a professional and welcoming environment during one-on-one support that allows clients to feel comfortable and confident in working together in their job search.

  2. Job Search Guidance: Providing advice on job search strategies, including how to effectively search for jobs online and use job search engines.

  3. Online Applications: Assist clients with filling out online job applications, ensuring they complete all required fields and understand the application process.

  4. Profile Building: Helping clients create and optimize their profiles on job search platforms like Indeed, LinkedIn, and other relevant sites. This may involve refining their resumes, cover letters, and other application materials.

  5. Email Assistance: Offering support with professional email communication, attaching resumes and cover letters, responding to job inquiries, and following up on applications.

  6. Directs clients to OVRC-directed services and workshops that will develop job search skills and provide the tools needed to improve their chances of finding meaningful employment.

   
Skills Required:



  • A strong understanding of how OVRC workshops and services will develop the client's job search skills and ability to recommend appropriate OVRC services to improve their job readiness.

  • Strong computer skills including email and MS Word.

  • Knowledge of other Winnipeg community agencies and resources.

  • Strong understanding of teamwork skills, with a history of successful teamwork experience to ensure our clients are receiving the appropriate and seamless services.
