Organizational Description: The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's (WRHA) Community Health and Corporate Services Volunteer Program provides meaningful public engagement, develops effective partnerships, mobilizes appropriate volunteer and community resources, supports a positive working environment and enhances the WRHA's capacity to support and deliver quality services.

Volunteers are placed in the community, supporting a variety of programs within Public Health, Primary Care and Corporate.

Description of Duties:

Anticipated Start Date ASAP, please note availability requirements; shift Tuesdays 9:15 to 12:00



  • Organize kitchen for snack/meal preparation (before start of group) by reviewing recipe, preparing ingredients and equipment and starting food preparation;

  • Assist with clean up, dishwashing, and putting away supplies;

  • Assist dietitian with nutrition topics/activities as required

  • Assist with other duties as necessary.

Skills Required:

  • Student in the Human Nutritional Sciences program is preferred

  • Basic cooking skills needed

  • Knowledge of food safety

  • Group facilitation skills (experience an asset)

  • Comfortable with approaching people in a friendly, supportive, non-judgmental manner

  • Physically able to perform tasks

  • Ability to understand, give direction and express oneself in English in a clear, concise manner

  • Organizational skills

  • Mature, Conscientious, Reliable

  • Must respect the policies of WRHA including dress code and confidentiality

  • Attend training as required

  • Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check (Recruited Volunteers will be provided forms to complete these Checks)

Length of Commitment: To provide consistency for group participants and staff, a minimum commitment of six months is desired.
