Organizational Description: A program of the Valour Community Center and volunteer-run community bike shop serving the Daniel McIntyre St. Matthews Community and the city of Winnipeg since 2009. We recycle and refurbish bicycles and teach people how to fix their bikes.

Description of Duties:

Orioles Bike Cage is in need of a liaison to communicate with the Valour Community Center Board of Directors.


In this position, you will attend board meetings as a proxy for the Bike Cage Director. You will convey a report when it's your turn, then vote on any issues that come up as instructed by the Bike Cage Director.


You must attend 5-6 board meetings per year. They last around 1.5 hours and are scheduled on the third Thursday of the month. Meetings take place each month except for December, July, and August. Attendance at every meeting is not necessary, but must go to some.


If you are the right person for this, you'll join a team of dedicated volunteers that run the Bike Cage, a community resource center helping people with bike repair. You'll be invited to volunteer appreciation events and receive volunteer appreciation gifts. More about our volunteer perks can be found on our website www.bikecage.ca

Listening attentively, some public speaking and note taking.

This is an excellent opportunity to see how boards work and how meetings work, great for someone needing leadership skills and who wants to be an organizer and community mover-and-shaker.

Total of at least 7.5 hours each year. Up to 12.5 hours each year, once per month, but not in December, July, and August.



Meetings scheduled for 6:30.
