Description of Duties:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of persons with disabilities? The Independent Living Resource Centre (ILRC) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is seeking dynamic and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a non-profit charity, we are committed to providing innovative services and programs that empower individuals with disabilities, fostering an inclusive and supportive community.


About Us: The ILRC is a leader in advocating for and supporting the rights and needs of persons with disabilities. We believe in promoting independence and personal growth through various programs and services tailored to the unique needs of our community members.


Your Role on the Board: As a Board member, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of the ILRC, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our community. You will have the opportunity to contribute your skills and expertise in a meaningful way, helping to shape the future of our organization.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Duty of Care: Stay informed about the ILRC's activities and sector developments. Actively participate in board meetings and decision-making, asking insightful questions and offering informed opinions.

  • Duty of Loyalty: Ensure undivided allegiance to the welfare of the ILRC. Avoid conflicts of interest, and prioritize the organization's goals and success.

  • Duty of Obedience: Remain faithful to the ILRC's mission and vision. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and uphold the organization's values and principles.

The Board meets once each month at noon (July and August are off). Note also the Annual General Meeting held in September. Meetings last approximately one hour. Special events and planning days may also be scheduled if required. Video conferencing available as needed.
