About the Walk

The Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History takes place in over 40 locations in Canada including Winnipeg. We rely on the energy, passion and skill of our generous volunteer to help make a difference in communities from coast-to-coast. If you have a few hours a week in the months leading up to Walk Day on Sunday, May 26th, 2024 -we want to hear from you!

Position Overview

The Sponsorship Lead is responsible for working with CF Canada staff in the acquisition and management of sponsorship opportunities for the Winnipeg Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History. They will be creating and maintaining relationships with sponsors and will act as the lead on event day managing the sponsors. The goal is to ensure that the Walk meets its fundraising goals, and minimizes expenses through in-kind donations and sponsorships.


  • Work with other committee members & CF Canada staff to source local cash sponsorship by selling route, checkpoints and Start/Finish location sponsorships

  • Secure local product and service donations (food, refreshments, equipment rental, first aid, etc.)

  • Adhere to the sponsorship guidelines and ensure that CF Canada is aware of any regional or national organizations that you may be approaching

  • Source prizes for the top fundraiser, top teams and items for gift bags (if applicable)

  • Send out proposals to secure new sponsorships

  • Make reminder calls to sponsors to fulfill the sponsorship agreement

  • Work in conjunction with your Walk Chair/CF Staff to send out post-event thank you letters to all sponsors

  • Liaise with sponsors on event day

  • Working with fellow committee members, coordinate sponsor banner placements

Time Commitment:

- This position will primarily involve daytime calls to recruit sponsors & prizing.

- There will be evening meetings once a month with the committee leading up to event day.

- It will be roughly 4 hours per week leading up to event.

- On event day, you will be required to be at venue for full event from 8am-4pm.
