Description of Duties:

Are you a passionate journalism student looking for hands-on experience in interviewing and writing articles? Do you want to be at the forefront of political discourse and have the opportunity to interview politicians and leaders? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

GLOCAL Foundation of Canada is thrilled to introduce our newest initiative in our Ask Beaver project, BeaverTalks: Inside Canadian Politics. GLOCAL is seeking enthusiastic and talented journalism students to join our team as volunteer Political Journalists. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to interview politicians and write articles for our exciting series, "BeaverTalks."

Key Responsibilities:
1. Legislative Outreach: You will be responsible for reaching out to legislators across Canada to set up interviews.
2. Conduct In-Depth Interviews: You will be responsible for conducting engaging and in-depth interviews with politicians, providing a platform for them to discuss policies, Canadian government, and more.
3. Research and Preparation: Thoroughly research interview subjects, their backgrounds, and key political issues. Prepare insightful, non-partisan questions to facilitate meaningful conversations.
4. Storytelling: Craft compelling articles from your interviews that captivate and inform our diverse audience. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge of Canada press style to their work!
5. Collaboration: Work closely with the GLOCAL team to ensure your content aligns with BeaverTalks' goals and standards.
6. Promotion: Participate in promoting your content through social media and other channels to increase its reach and impact.

Skills Required:

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated journalism, political science, public policy, government relations, or another related field.
- Strong interest in politics and a brief understanding of current political events.
- Exceptional communication and interviewing skills.
- Strong research and critical thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to write engaging and informative articles.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to meet deadlines.
- A passion for journalism and a commitment to journalistic integrity.
