The Festival du Voyageur is a non-profit organization that organizes multiple events. Every winter since 1970, Saint-Boniface, the French quarter of Winnipeg, has been transformed into a winter paradise and becomes the host of the largest winter festival in Western Canada. Voyageur, Métis and First Nations histories are brought back to life, not only through the historical interpretation offered inside reconstructed Fort Gibraltar, but also through the many attractions inside Voyageur Park and at the festival's various official sites. In addition, every summer Fort Gibraltar opens its doors to schools and the public allowing its visitors to meet a series of unique characters living to the rhythm of the year 1815. Visitors can thus relive the era of the fur trade. and the period of fierce competition between the Northwest Company and the Hudson's Bay Company. Occasionally the Festival organizes unique events such as the Sam Robert Bands @ Fort Gibraltar concert on June 3, 2022. All those wonderful events could not take place without the help of our volunteers who are part of the big family of the Festival du Voyageur. |
