Organizational Description: The Lifesaving Society is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning. We save lives and prevent water-related injury through our training programs, Water Smart® public education, aquatic safety management services, lifesaving sport and water incident research.

Founded in 1911, Lifesaving Society Manitoba has been proudly saving lives and educating Manitobans about water safety for over 100 years. We train all of Manitoba's National Lifeguards.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: - Monitor the financial activities of the Society.
- Provide expertise and input on financial and strategic plans, procedures, and decisions that affect the financial stability and sustainability of the Society.
- Prepare and deliver financial analysis and forecasts to the Board on a quarterly basis.
- Assist in the preparation of the legally required financial statements for the Society.
- Present and respond to questions about the financial report at the Annual General Meeting.
- Prepare an annual budget with the Chair and the Executive Director.
- Chair the Audit and Finance Committee.
- Act as a signing authority for the Society.
Skills Required: - Current CPA or equivalent experience and knowledge
- Familiar with compliance requirements for non-profit corporations and charities
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience producing and interpreting budgets, financial statements, and financial reports as required

Time Commitment: Evening, Remote Volunteering
Board meeting and preparation: 4 x per/year (16 hours) Meeting with staff: 1 x every second month (6 hour per/year) Chairing and preparing for Audit & Finance Committee meetings: 4 x per/year (8 hours) Audit oversight and presenting at AGM: 4 hours per/year
