Organizational Description: Henteleff Park is 50 acres of natural beauty located at 1964 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg. The primary goal of the Henteleff Park Foundation is the preservation and enhancement of the unique landscape of the Park by planting indigenous trees and shrubs and removing invasive species of plants. The Foundation also maintains trails and provides both historical and natural history interpretation. The Park is a space where people can experience birds and other wildlife, enjoy the riparian forest, appreciate the history of the land, and participate in park re-naturalization through a variety of volunteer opportunities.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Groups of volunteers will work under supervision and instruction to accomplish the task of the week. Tasks may include removing invasive weeds, removing garbage, or wood chipping trails.
Skills Required: Ability to follow directions, bend or kneel to pick weeds, lift and carry weeds for disposal.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Volunteers will learn more about native prairie plants, get fresh air and exercise and contribute to the maintenance of this special environment.
Age: 17 and under, 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime
Thursday mornings, 0830 - 1130
