Volunteer Opportunity Details | |
Description of Duties: | Pan Am clinic strives to provide the best possible client experience. Throughout the facility, we continue to value caring communication with our clients. From our direct patient care staff to administrative support staff, to management leaders and building maintenance, we have built a team. We would like to welcome volunteers to this team who share in our vision of engaged care. -Greet, provide information to clients upon arrival at the Pan Am Clinic. -Remind clients upon entry to sanitize their hands and put on a medical mask if they do not have one on. -Provide directions and escort clients to clinic areas if required. -Provide general information about the clinics and services offered. -From designated workspace greet clients in person and ask them if they could complete a short survey about the service they received while at the clinic. -Using a Tablet, Volunteers provide information on the reasons for the survey by following the script provided. -Following PHIA guidelines, complete the survey by asking the client the questions as they are written. |
Skills Required: | -Friendly personality and a genuine interest in helping others with effective interpersonal communication skills. -Ability to understand, take and give directions and express oneself in English in a clear, concise manner. Ability to speak another language such as French is an asset. -Physically able to stand for extended periods of time, walk distances and provide patients with wheelchairs as needed. -Respectful of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds of patients and their family members. Be able to maintain an unbiased position about the health care system. -Attend orientation and ongoing training as required. |
Skills Gained/Related Careers: | Volunteering at Pan Am is an opportunity to provide a service to others while giving back to the community. For students, this role provides an introduction to a health care environment, to explore careers, gain experience and an opportunity to engage with patients. |

Time Commitment: | Daytime Recruited Volunteers will be assigned one shift per week with a minimum commitment of 6 months preferred. Our current priority is to fill Monday morning shifts 8:00am to 12:00pm, then Tuesday to Thursday mornings, and eventually afternoons Monday to Friday 12:00 to 4:00 |
