Organizational Description: The MS Society provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease. We have a membership of over 7,000 and are the only national voluntary organization in Canada that supports both MS research and services. Since our founding in 1948, the core support of the MS Society has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government.

The MS Society is governed by a board of directors comprised of 14 volunteer members who are elected annually.

Some 1,500 volunteers serve on MS Society national, division and chapter boards and committees. An estimated 13,500 women and men are volunteers for service programs, fundraising events, public awareness campaigns and social action activities.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Sponsorship Coordinator is responsible for stewarding the participation of local sponsors to
enhance the event experience and keep event costs as low as possible. Through your work as
the Sponsorship Coordinator, you will ensure more funds raised go directly to creating a world
free of MS.
- Attend a sponsorship orientation session with the MS Society to learn about prospecting,
sponsor benefits, available resources and more
- Create a local sponsor prospect list that includes past and potential sponsors to
approach for support
- Do outreach to potential sponsors and steward them towards committing to a
partnership
- Work with MS Walk coordinator to ensure sponsor benefits are fulfilled.
- Greet sponsors attending the event
- Send a post event thank you to the sponsor
- Champion the Walk in your community by promoting the event and recruiting participants and day-of-event volunteers
Skills Required: - Engaging, positive attitude
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational and customer service skills
- Passion for supporting the MS Community and funding MS research
- Basic computer proficiency including email, internet searches, Word, Excel
- Self-motivated and reliable; able to fulfill duties on time
- Must be comfortable making decisions and problem solving with limited supervision.

Time Commitment:
- Long term (November- June). Hours will vary based on the size of your community event. Hours will increase as the event approaches. We estimate these roles will take between 1-3 hours per month. - Meet online via Teams once or twice a month - Must be available to attend the event at the end of May for approximately 8 hours.
