Volunteer Opportunity Details | |
Description of Duties: | We are actively recruiting members for our Huddle NorWest Family Advisory Council. Huddle NorWest is a one-stop-shop for youth ages 12-29, providing free services in the areas of mental health, addictions, employment supports, recreation, primary healthcare, and more. The mission of the Huddle NorWest Family Advisory Council is to create a real culture of change by facilitating the involvement of family and those who care about young people. The council promotes sustainable family engagement and active participation by ensuring that all members have a safe forum for support there their contributions are respected. We meet on a monthly basis and each member is encouraged to share their voice, work together, and alongside the Youth Advisory Council. |
Skills Required: | The council is composed of family members/carers who have the lived experience of a loved one with mental health concerns, support youth in the community, or have been involved in mental health initiatives in any capacity. |
Skills Gained/Related Careers: | -Council/Committee experience -Volunteer experience in the field of social services and mental health |
Age: | 18-30, 31-54, 55+ |
Time Commitment: | Evening One 1.5 hour meeting per month, usually held on a weekday evening from 4:30-6:00pm. Occasional additional participation is requested, such as presence at an Open House once per year, or a special event. Honorarium provided. |
