Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: - Be available to present 1 or 2 workshops a month from mid Sept to early June (usually weekdays during the day, with occasional evenings or Saturdays)
- Work closely with the Event Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator in scheduling of workshops
- Ensure that needed equipment, volunteers, and supplies are available for scheduled workshops and events.

Training:
- Read and support Dying With Dignity's mission and values, as stated here:
www.dyingwithdignity.ca/about
- Attend at least one ACP presentation to understand the workshop
- Become familiar with the required reading materials for ACP presenters (provided), including Power Point presentations, forms in use in Manitoba, sample documents, information about community resources
- Attend an orientation session (in-person or via Zoom) which will cover the logistics of doing presentations (equipment, handouts, reporting and recording)
- Present at least one workshop with support and supervision
- Sign the chapter confidentiality agreement
Skills Required: - Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word (managing email, downloading, saving, and printing files, simple editing of documents), PowerPoint, Zoom, and cloud storage and Dropbox (or ability and willingness to learn)
- Familiarity with the Manitoba health care system, either through employment (or past employment), personal experience, or advocacy/caregiving
- Some experience with / knowledge of Advance Care Planning and serious-illness conversations (especially involving the elderly) preferred but not required
- Willing to speak to groups of 10 to 40 or more people, in person and/or via Zoom
- Driver's licence and vehicle to attend workshops, presentations and events.
