Organizational Description: LITE's mission is to promote Community Economic Development (CED) by supporting inner city programs in Winnipeg that provide jobs and training opportunities to the chronically underemployed. We do this by providing grants to partner organizations running these specific programs and by making strategic purchases to support the inner-city economy and employment. LITE directs donations to support jobs, and more importantly, to help people who want to overcome the challenges they face. Our name says it all: We invest locally toward employment.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: - Helping develop the high-level plan for fundraising (policy, planning, marketing)
- Supporting the very practical work of philanthropy at the organization, which translates to calling to thank donors when they contribute to our cause, welcoming people to events, or even championing us among their network.
Skills Required: LITE provides training on all of the activities.
-Interest in being a champion for a charitable cause
-Good interpersonal skills
-Trustworthy and understands importance of confidential materials
-Interest in organizing or planning small gatherings
Skills Gained/Related Careers: -Practice your (IRL) social networking skills!
-Feel good about promoting philanthropy and caring in your community
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening
Training is booked for Wednesday, August 31, 6 to 7:15PM. (Meeting in person, off site). Variable hours (10-20 hours depending on size of group you hope to work with), mainly in December
