Organizational Description: As the largest sporting event ever hosted in the Province of Manitoba, the 2023 World Police and Fire Games is an exciting and rewarding community-wide sports event that takes place from July 28 - August 6, 2023.

Held biennially, the World Police and Fire Games is an Olympic-style competition with more than 8,500 athletes representing law enforcement, firefighters, and police officers from more than 50 countries across the world. These athletes compete in more than 60 unique sports. Founded and hosted several times in the United States, past host countries include, Australia, Canada, China, Northern Ireland, Spain, and Sweden.

As a celebration of firefighters & law enforcement world-wide, the size and scope of the World Police & Fire Games continues to grow. Attendance in the Games increases as have the number of Nations involved throughout its history. The 2011 WPFG in New York holds the current attendance record with more than 16,000 athletes competing in 67 sports from near 70 countries. More than 10,000 competitors competed in the Chengdu, China Games in 2019. With family and traveling companions, overall attendance topped 25,000.

Beginning in 2022, WPFG 2023 will introduce sporting events and activities to build the momentum and awareness of the World Police and Fire Games coming to Winnipeg.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: We are in search of Sport Coordinator Leadership Volunteers who will be an integral part of our venue teams during Games Time (July 28th to August 6th, 2023).
Skills Required: The Sport Operations Team (SOT) will consist of one or more Volunteer Sport Coordinators working in partnership with the assigned Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) or Local Sport Organization (LSO) who will be the Sport Technical Lead. The Sport Coordinator, along with the SOT and the Venue Operations Team (VOT) will plan, coordinate and oversee execution of the assigned sport.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Game operations, event planning, kinesiology, recreation management
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
During games time, hours will depend on the sport you are involved with.
