Volunteer Opportunity Details | |
Description of Duties: | MIIC provides comprehensive services to refugee claimants. In-Canada Protection Services provides settlement supports to help refugee claimants integrate socially and economically into the Manitoba community, and assist them in navigating the refugee claims process. Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council (MIIC) / Welcome Place is looking for volunteers to assist in our In-Canada Protection Program. Tasks will include completing the Basis of Claim and other documents with Refugee Claimants. |
Skills Required: | Immigration Lawyers or individuals with clear immigration background/knowledge. Volunteers must be experienced using a computer and be professional when working with vulnerable clients. Writing skills important for completing Basis of Claim (BOC). The BOC form is an important part of the refugee claim and explains who the refugee is, what they are afraid of in their country and why they need refugee protection in Canada. Assisting refugee claimants with completing IRCC eligibility forms It will be an asset if Volunteers speaks additional languages, but not necessary. Weekly volunteer hours to be determined and will be on an ongoing basis. |
