Description of Duties: - Be a positive role model in the life of a child or youth
- Spend time with the child or youth doing activities of interest to both of you
- Model appropriate social skills and life skills
   
Skills Required: - The ability to be creative and flexible in carrying out activities
- Have a non-judgmental attitude
- Maintain boundaries while building a strong relationship
- Work cooperatively with staff in planning and reporting on activities
   
Skills Gained/Related Careers: - Gain experience within a social services agency
- Expand knowledge of child development as well as the unique circumstances of a particular child or youth
- Satisfaction of contributing to the improvement of a child or youth's quality of life
- Acquire experience beneficial to related career goals including social work, health care, and education.

Weekend

- Times will be scheduled regularly dependent on the availability of both the mentor and the child or youth. This could be weekly, bi-weekly, or other.
- We ask that a potential mentor be willing to commit for one year.
