Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Mediation Services is seeking nominations for volunteers for our Board of Directors for terms starting as soon as possible or September 2023.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in Accounting or Finance who are willing to volunteer on the Finance & Audit committee and support the Executive Director with budgeting and financial reporting.

Mediation Services recognizes the importance of building an exemplary board that is inclusive and reflective of the population we serve. We encourage applicants to voluntarily self-declare if they are from any of the following employment equity groups: women, Indigenous peoples, visible minorities, and persons with disabilities.

Mediation Services is a local, non-profit organization that promotes peace and restorative justice within the community. We have been offering conflict resolution services to Manitobans since 1979, including victim-offender mediation, community mediation for family/neighborhood disputes, workplace intervention, and a comprehensive training program in conflict resolution skills.
Skills Required: It is critical that Board Directors carry themselves in alignment with the organization's values: Caring, Collaborative, Empowering and Integrity. Board Directors must also actively support and lend their expertise towards the organization's purpose of facilitating peaceful interactions to transform relationships and vision of we are at the forefront of the conflict resolution movement.

Experience with or demonstrated understanding of Restorative Justice is a definite asset, along with prior experience serving on a Board of Directors and an understanding of the role of a Director.

Our Board meets the second Tuesday of each month from September to June. Committee work may also be required.
