Organizational Description: | The College has been the professional regulator for Registered Nurses (RNs) in Manitoba since 1913. Our mandate is to protect and serve the public interest. We establish and maintain a registration process that ensures RNs are qualified and competent. We set and maintain nursing practice standards for RNs. We approve nursing education programs, and we receive and investigate complaints about the nursing practice and conduct of RNs. |

Description of Duties: | The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba is seeking to fill Council (Board) vacancies for terms starting on August 1, 2023. The Council is comprised of 11 members; six Registered Nurse members and five Public members. The College is seeking four registrants and one member of the public to join the College's Council for a three-year term, starting August 1, 2023. |
Skills Required: | The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba recognizes the importance of building a Council that is reflective of the public whose interest the College is mandated to protect. This includes actively seeking Council members with diverse backgrounds, cultures and perspectives. An applicant's ability to contribute to a diverse Council composition will be a priority factor in the selection process. Essential: Applicants must meet all the following essential criteria in order to be considered for appointment to Council: - Understanding of the role and responsibilities of the College - Ability to put the public interest above all other considerations, even when they may conflict with professional interests - Ability to think critically and with an open mind about issues - Ability to clearly communicate views on issues - Ability to make decisions based on open and thorough consideration of all the arguments - Ability to be a team player and use effective inter-personal skills to develop strong, trustworthy and cooperative relationships - Ability and intent to participate regularly and devote the required time and energy Additional desired and other qualifications and information can be found on the application page. |

Time Commitment: | Daytime, Evening Council members attend quarterly full-day meetings and serve on Council committees. Significant time commitment is required to read materials in advance of meetings and to be prepared to discuss regulatory/governance issues with a public interest outlook.
