Description of Duties: Organization Description: English Online (EO) is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 2008. It is funded by IRCC and the Province of Manitoba. Our learners are adult newcomers to Manitoba who fall under the following categories: Permanent Residents, Refugees, Temporary Workers, and Newcomer Citizens currently living in Manitoba.
In our e-Volunteer program, we recruit and train volunteers who assist adult newcomers to Manitoba through personalized one-on-one learning sessions that are offered 100% online from the comfort of both the volunteers' and learners' homes. Minimum hours offered to each learner are 10 hours that could be extended to be a maximum of 20 hours to be completed over a span of 12 weeks. There are two streams that serve our learners: EAL e-Tutoring which offers informal language training in Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing, as well as Settlement e-Coaching that provides settlement guidance and resources for new settlers as well as language training in topics related to settlement like banking, housing, shopping, Canadian culture, and many more topics of interest to the learners.
