Description of Duties: - Working with the Executive Director to develop a strategic plan for the organization
- Overseeing the Executive Director, including hiring, termination, performance evaluations and overall suitability for the management of the organization
- Ensuring that the organization is carrying out its mission
- Monitoring the organization's financial health
- Providing professional assistance as required by the organization determined by Board decision, or Executive Director request
Skills Required: - Previous Board experience preferred but not necessary
- Knowledge experience in one or more of the following areas:
Accounting/Finance, Human Resources, and Employment Law
Skills Gained/Related Careers: - Knowledge about palliative care
- Learning about board governance
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening
The Palliative Manitoba board meets 7 times/year in addition to the Annual General Meeting and any committee meetings. Regular board meetings are typically held on the 2nd Wednesday of every other month at 5:30 pm.
