Organizational Description: U-Turn Parkinson's seeks to empower those living with Parkinson's in their pursuit of wellness. We are committed to supporting them through a holistic approach, and see wellness as an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward a more successful existence.

We aim to inspire, inform and provide the tools needed to improve one's quality of life. We do this by offering our Rock Steady Boxing Winnipeg, Yoga Parkinson's & U-Tunes programs, and by continually finding new ways to fight back against this disease.

We see wellness having 6 focuses: intellectual, occupational, spiritual, physical, social and emotional. At U-Turn Parkinson's we aim to provide the tools for the person living with parkinson's to pursue wellness in each of these categories.

U-Turn Parkinson's is a Canadian charity (Registration #775822927) committed to helping individuals live their best in spite of Parkinson's. We rely solely on the donations from individuals, foundations and corporations to fund our mission.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Program Manager in meeting the organizations overall volunteer needs. The position responsibilities will include recruiting, training and retaining volunteer members; matching individual skills to available opportunities; keeping volunteers informed and engaged, and conveying the organization's mission, vision and values to the volunteer team. The coordinator will be meticulous about keeping records and passionate about volunteer work. They will uphold the values of the organization while ensuring positive engagement of volunteers in their positions.

Skills Required: Primary Responsibilities:

Recruiting, training, retaining and coordinating the volunteer team. Matching individual skills to available opportunities.

Manage the volunteer data base and individual availability keeping detailed records of volunteer schedules, assignments and hours.

Using organizational tools such as e-mail, Microsoft Office applications and volunteer databases.

Ensure the volunteer team remains informed and engaged with the organization and are knowledgable of all volunteer opportunities.

Organizing and leading training in collaboration with Program Manager and coaches.

Planning volunteer appreciation opportunities in collaboration with the Program Manager.

Upholding the organizations values, codes of conduct and operating procedures.

Ensuring the mission, vision and goals of the organization are clearly communicated.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: A bachelor's degree or diploma in business management, human resources, social work, resource management or related field. A combination of relevant experience will be considered.

Experience in volunteering and recruitment.

Working knowledge of databases and Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent organization and team-building skills.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
This position will require a range of approximately 3-5 hours per week at this time, depending on various factors including special events, recruitment, maintenance of current volunteers and communication.
