Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: To ensure that the computer & network needs of the MGS Library/Resource Centre and Branches are met for both patrons and volunteers.
Skills Required: Hardware & Operating systems skills necessary: working computers for research; maintenance & updates as required; maintains internet connections, server,router; systematic data backup skills; good communication skills with all department volunteers.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Working with a heritage database system, maintenance of a bank of computers with different requirements; working with a registered charitable organization & it's unique computer functions.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
It varies - flexibility in learning schedule, available to spend some time in the Resource Centre/Library with other volunteers; some days would be preferred at least for some of the initial scheduling. A council member position - 3 council meeting & 1 AGM annually. We request a minimum commitment of one year for any of our volunteer positions.
