Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: %u2022 Research and gather resources on a selected topic revolving around sustainable development and human rights with guidance from the Committee Lead.
%u2022 Transfer the research into an immersive and interactive presentation to be presented to Middle and High School students in Manitoba.
%u2022 Generate activities and workshops for Grades 6-12 to compliment presentations.
%u2022 Presenting of the final product in classrooms once the program is launched is not required unless the individual expresses interest in a facilitation role.
%u2022 Ability to attend monthly team meetings via Zoom or other means of video conferencing.
Skills Required: %u2022 Some knowledge of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, or general sustainable development
%u2022 Highly motivated individual that is passionate about educational outreach, and shows initiative in their work.
%u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
%u2022 French language knowledge is beneficial (looking also for a volunteer to translate materials into French)
%u2022 Ability to follow directions and adhere to deadlines.
%u2022 Proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Skills Gained/Related Careers:
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening, Weekend
Minimum 3-5 month commitment dependent upon the length of time to complete tasks outlined below. *Introduction/onboarding meeting via phone or video call (Zoom) is required All volunteer expectations: %u2022 Attend a monthly meeting (usually no longer than half and hour) via Zoom %u2022 Maintain contact with the lead and respond to messages in a timely manner (within 3 days) %u2022 Use of Basecamp as the main form of communication and document storage
