Organizational Description: The Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba (LDAM) provides information, referral, and support for individuals with learning disabilities (LD) and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), their families and the professionals who work with them. LDAM is a United Way supported agency that also receives grants and carries out fundraising activities to help fulfill our mission. LDAM's vision is to help people impacted by learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders to reach their goals and live better lives.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: This program supports individuals to identify their individual areas of strengths and improvement, communicating their needs, and developing strategies to prepare for a positive transition to high-school. Sessions are taught using a combination of discussion, instruction, and engaging activities.
Skills Required: We are looking for a person that is comfortable facilitating in a group setting, has excellent verbal and written communication skills, and has an empathetic and compassionate approach. Experience working and supporting teens with learning disabilities and ADHD would be an asset.
