Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Aphasia camp is an annual retreat that is offered as a part of March of Dimes Canada's Community Engagement programs. Aphasia Camp is an opportunity for people impacted by aphasia to participate in activities in a communicatively ("aphasia-friendly") environment. The primary objective of camp is to promote quality of life. This is done by providing opportunities to develop and mobilize one's social networks and participate in engaging activities.

Due to COVID-19 Aphasia Camp will be held through the virtual platform, Zoom.

Aphasia Camp assistants will have opportunities to provide support in 2 different roles:

Direct Support Role
%u2022 Participate in necessary training(s) to support individuals with aphasia.
%u2022 Support the planning and delivery of the Aphasia Camps
%u2022 Provide 1 to 1 support to camp participants, helping them: navigate technology, select camp activities, and participate in activities
%u2022 Gather feedback and information regarding camp activities

Non-Direct Support Role
%u2022 Support the technical and logistical aspects of delivering Aphasia Camp (Managing video conference software: moderating chat, organizing individuals in breakout rooms, directing individuals from waiting rooms etc.)
%u2022 Taking photos and videos during camp
%u2022 Participating in Aphasia Camp planning meetings
Assembling camper packages
