Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Are you passionate about making positive change in others' lives? Do you enjoy helping others in need? Do you value cultural exchange? Are you looking for a life changing experience? Then We are looking for you!

Ads Up Canada Refugee Network actively recruits volunteers to form new settlement teams to sponsor refugees during their first year of arrival. We work through the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program (PSRP), which is a unique Canadian program that allows individuals to sponsor refugees to come to Canada. Settlement team members help welcoming the refugees when they arrive in Canada and assist them in settling down and finding the services they need and start their new lives.

Through a unique partnership called "Operation #NotForgotten (ONF)", we partner with MOSAIC, a Sponsorship Agreement Holder located in Vancouver, to bring refugees to Canada through the PSRP.

The funds to support refugees' resettlement have already been raised through significant fundraising in Australia, Canada and the USA over the past year. Volunteers are not obligated to raise any funds for the applicants they sponsor.

This is a long term volunteer opportunity. Settlement teams commit to assisting refugees for one year upon arrival, as required by the PSRP.
Skills Required: Desired skills include positive attitude, willing to help, patient and open to cultural exchange and different perspectives. English teaching experience (ESL/TEFL) and/or experience in social work or mental health are excellent advantages.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: You will gain experience working first hand with newcomers and you will gain valuable knowledge about different cultures and backgrounds. Additionally, all our volunteers benefit from ongoing training sessions, workshops and other events to provide them with the necessary skills and tools to work with refugees.
