Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Serving on the Board of Directors at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about building the capacity of a dynamic non-profit to serve more of our community's young people through mentoring.

The organization's Board of Directors is comprised of leaders dedicated to the Agency's vision of a world in which the healthy development of every child is enhanced by positive, nurturing, mentoring relationships - building healthy lives and healthy communities. They are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in advancing its mission, amplifying its voice, increasing its impact and enhancing its sustainability. And they carry with them many of the core values of the Agency: Compassion, Integrity, Curiosity, Thoughtfulness and Commitment.
Skills Required: We are currently recruiting for diverse leaders with recent Board experience, and talent or expertise in one or more of the following areas: governance, public relations, marketing, education/social services, business and community influencer and/or fund development.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: You will have the opportunity to learn about mentorship, Agency governance and leadership, and work with a diverse group of individuals who are committed to serving the children and youth of Winnipeg.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening
The Board meets once a month in the evening from Sept to June, plus an AGM in September. Meetings are less than 2 hours in duration. Some additional hours may be required for meeting preparation or ad-hoc work.
