Organizational Description: | Henteleff Park is 50 acres of natural beauty located at 1964 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg. The primary goal of the Henteleff Park Foundation is the preservation and enhancement of the unique landscape of the Park by planting indigenous trees and shrubs and removing invasive species of plants. The Foundation also maintains trails and provides both historical and natural history interpretation. The Park is a space where people can experience birds and other wildlife, enjoy the riparian forest, appreciate the history of the land, and participate in park re-naturalization through a variety of volunteer opportunities. |

Volunteer Opportunity Details | |
Description of Duties: | The Henteleff Park Foundation is looking for a volunteer Grants Writer to identify funding sources and prepare applications for financial grants allocated by government departments, companies, foundations and trusts. Time commitment will vary throughout the year, with two major grants due in January and February each year. Board Members of the Henteleff Park Foundation will provide background and information needed to complete applications. |
Skills Required: | Strong research skills to identify appropriate funding sources Excellent written skills with knowledge of correct grammar Ability to accurately summarize pertinent information regarding project requirements and the Henteleff Park Foundation Ability to submit proposals to Board Members for approval within deadlines |
Skills Gained/Related Careers: | Grants writing skills Gain knowledge about Henteleff Park and supporting passive parks This may be of interest to researchers or educators with experience in grantsmanship. Successful grant applications will fund long lasting improvements and educational resources for Park users. |
