Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Zoo Lights Festival runs from November 26th to January 2nd. Zoo Lights Volunteers will have the opportunity to experience this unique lights event in depth and up close! Assiniboine Park Conservancy will rely on volunteers to help our guests enjoy a magical experience during their visit. Volunteers at Zoo Lights are critical to keeping all guests well informed, safe, and comfortable throughout their evening visit to the Zoo. Volunteers will enjoy a number of benefits including a special Zoo Lights branded merchandise and cup, free hot chocolate, coffee and snacks during your shift, and the chance to win a behind the scenes tour of the Zoo. The more you volunteer, the greater the rewards! Volunteer positions are available to people age 16 and older. COVID safety protocols are in place for volunteers, staff and visitors
Skills Required: 1. Be comfortable interacting with large crowds of visitors of all ages
2. Be able to follow directions from staff and lead volunteers
3. Be able to move around easily outdoors, on foot or with the use of mobility aids
4. Be able to spend extended periods of time (5 hours with breaks) outdoors in all kinds of weather
5. Be able to commit to at least two shifts (5 hour minimum) evenings only
6. Must be 16 years of age or older
Skills Gained/Related Careers: 1. Communication skills
2. Problem Solving skills
3. Customer Service skills

These skills are transferable to careers in tourism, retail and food and beverage sectors.

Time Commitment: Evening, Weekend
Minimum 5 hour shifts with sign up for multiple shifts encouraged. Apply early in order to get the best selection of shifts.
