Organizational Description: Main Street Project is a not for profit organization that provides a safe, respectful, accessible place for individuals at risk in the community. We have an emergency shelter, a drop-in centre, a detox unit and a transitional housing space for our patrons. We advocate for a more inclusive society and assist marginalized individuals to make real choices.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Accept donations for Holiday Gift Drive
Sort, label, package, or organize donations
Take photos of Donator and the items donated
Skills Required: Ability to work individually or in a team setting
Ability to work with little supervision
Ability to keep accurate records (i.e. tracking numbers)
Strong organizational skills and time management
Demonstrate communication skills, both verbal and written
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Volunteers must present a current Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check (note: volunteer is responsible for cost of checks)
Knowledge of the effects of mental health issues, poverty and Winnipeg's marginalized population
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime
9 am - 5 pm Minimum 3 hours

Opportunity is available to candidates that: Are fulfilling volunteer hours for credit
