Organizational Description: It is our goal to preserve Argentinean culture and traditions for future generations and share them with the greater community; to promote bonds of friendship and celebrate national holidays; and to assist Argentineans who wish to make Manitoba their home.

The association hosts cultural and social events regularly, including movie nights and truco tournaments, as well as annual gatherings with a New Year's dinner and dance and a Summer barbecue. Over one hundred volunteers work together to put on the Argentinean TANGO Pavilion as part of the Folklorama cultural festival and two scholarships are awarded annually to Manitobans of Argentinean descent pursuing post-secondary studies.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Argentinian Manitoban Association (AMA) is an association of members that:
- Assists Argentinians who wish to make Manitoba their home
- Promotes bonds of friendship among Argentinians and with Manitobans
- Preserves Argentinian culture and traditions for future generations and share them with the rest of Manitoba
Our website is an important source of information for the community, but it needs an update. We are calling on enthusiastic and talented web designers who can help us transition to a new website.

Responsibilities of the Volunteer Web Designer
- Assess the website needs of the organization
- Design user friendly website, including layout and technical requirements
- Support the development of new website content by collaborating with the Board of Directors and volunteer members of the Communications Sub commission
- Register with search engines
- Create back up files
- Debug code and re-designing web pages
- Attend meeting(s) and communicate progress and ideas to Board of Directors
Skills Required: - Working towards a bachelor or diploma in information technology, computer science or other related fields
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS/PHP/Javascript/MySQL
- Previous web design experience is an asset
- Proficiency in the use of Web, graphic design and animation software: Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, Acrobat, Flash is an asset but not required
- Communicate with a dynamic team of staff
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and stay committed
- Excellent organization, analysis, and problem solving
- Knowledge of Spanish, an asset but not required
Skills Gained/Related Careers: - Personal reference or reference letter for job or post graduate applications
- Solid volunteer or job experience and work to add to professional portfolio, resume, or community service credits for web or graphic design career
Age: 17 and under, 18-30, 31-54
Time Commitment: Evening, Weekend
